TCIA uses the DICOM Part 3.15 Annex E standard \u201cRetain Longitudinal With Modified Dates Option\u201d which allows dates to be retained as long as they are modified from the original date.\u00a0 TCIA implements this using a technique which de-identifies the dates while preserving the longitudinal relationship between them. \u00a0Original dates were first normalized to 01 January, 1945 and then offset relative to the date of registration for each patient.\u00a0 This normalized date system was chosen in order to make it obvious that the dates are not real, and to make it easy to quickly determine how much time has passed between the date of registration and the patients' related imaging studies.\r\n\r\nFor example, if the real date of a patient's registration was 03\/27\/2018 and the original imaging Study Date was 03\/29\/2018 then the \"Days from registration\" would be +2 and the anonymized TCIA Study Date would become 01\/03\/1945.\r\n<h3>Insertion of computed \"REGISTRATION\"\/Days offset from registration\" value<\/h3>\r\nIn addition to modifying the actual date fields in the DICOM header, the \"days from registration\" values are calculated and stored in the DICOM tag<strong>\u00a0(0012,0052)\u00a0Longitudinal Temporal Offset from Event<\/strong>\u00a0with the associated tag\u00a0<strong>(0012,0053) Longitudinal Temporal Event Type<\/strong>\u00a0set to \u201cREGISTRATION\u201d.\r\n\r\n<u><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0If these DICOM tags are not present, DICOM tag\u00a0<strong>(0012,0050) Clinical Trial Time Point ID<\/strong>\u00a0with the associated tag\u00a0<strong>(0012,0051) Clinical Trial Time Point Description<\/strong>\u00a0provides this same information.\u00a0 This inconsistency is due to a change in how dates were handled in the first NCTN trials that were published on TCIA.","supporting_data":["Clinical"],"collection_featured_image":{"ID":"6463","post_author":"29","post_date":"2023-09-13 08:44:53","post_date_gmt":"2023-09-13 13:44:53","post_content":"","post_title":"image-2023-4-11_16-13-2","post_excerpt":"","post_status":"inherit","comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","post_password":"","post_name":"image-2023-4-11_16-13-2","to_ping":"","pinged":"","post_modified":"2023-11-20 00:44:10","post_modified_gmt":"2023-11-20 06:44:10","post_content_filtered":"","post_parent":"41151","guid":"https:\/\/stage.cancerimagingarchive.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-2023-4-11_16-13-2.png","menu_order":"0","post_type":"attachment","post_mime_type":"image\/png","comment_count":"0","pod_item_id":"6463"},"collection_summary":"<p>This collection contains data from the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) Clinical Trial\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/clinicaltrials.gov\/study\/NCT02933489\">NCT02933489<\/a>, \u201cAbbreviated Breast MRI and Digital Tomosynthesis Mammography in Screening Women With Dense Breasts\".
