All investigators including any Approved User conducting \u201chuman subjects research\u201d within the scope of 45 CFR 46 must comply with the requirements contained therein.<\/li>\n<li>Acknowledge in all oral or written presentations, disclosures, or publications the specific dataset(s) or applicable accession number(s) and the NIH-designated data repositories through which the investigator accessed any data. Citation guidelines for doing this are outlined below.<\/li>\n<li>If you are considering mirroring a copy of our publicly available datasets or providing direct access to any of our data via another tool or website using our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.cancerimagingarchive.net\/display\/Public\/TCIA+Programmatic+Interface+REST+API+Guides\" rel=\"nofollow\">REST API<\/a>\u00a0please review our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.cancerimagingarchive.net\/pages\/viewpage.action?pageId=22515655\" rel=\"nofollow\">Data Analysis Centers (DACs)<\/a> page for more information. DACs must provide attribution of each individual dataset they facilitate access to, and links back to this TCIA data usage policy.\u00a0 They must also require downstream users to do the same.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Attribution Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Every TCIA dataset is published with a <strong>Data Citation<\/strong> which includes a persistent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) that must be cited or attributed any time the data are used as shown below.\u00a0 When referring to a TCIA collection, <u><strong>be sure to use the full data citation and DOI link rather than citing the web page as a regular URL<\/strong><\/u>.\u00a0 Researchers can use\u00a0<a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/citation.crosscite.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/citation.crosscite.org\/<\/a> to create citations in the accepted format for most major publishers if you paste in the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) from a TCIA dataset.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-48625 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cancerimagingarchive.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/tcia-citation-example-1024x650.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"650\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stage.cancerimagingarchive.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/tcia-citation-example-1024x650.png 1024w, https:\/\/stage.cancerimagingarchive.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/tcia-citation-example-300x190.png 300w, https:\/\/stage.cancerimagingarchive.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/tcia-citation-example-768x487.png 768w, https:\/\/stage.cancerimagingarchive.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/tcia-citation-example-1536x975.png 1536w, https:\/\/stage.cancerimagingarchive.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/tcia-citation-example.png 1992w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you did not use any specific dataset, but wish to refer to TCIA in general please use the following\u00a0publication:<\/p>\n<div class=\"tcia-alert-box\">\n<div>Clark, K., Vendt, B., Smith, K., Freymann, J., Kirby, J., Koppel, P., Moore, S., Phillips, S., Maffitt, D., Pringle, M., Tarbox, L., &amp; Prior, F. Therefore, effective January 6, 2022, all TCIA Collections of brain, head or head\/neck cancers (where data could be used to reconstruct a human face) will change from a Creative Commons license to a TCIA Limited Access License.
